The Centre for Sport and Law is a consulting company offering legal solutions, planning and governance services, and strategic communications. The Centre provides consulting services and educational programs related to organizational governance, values management, risk assessment, mediation and arbitration, policy development, business and employment issues and change management. We are not a law firm - but we can provide a full range of legal services, and our multidisciplinary team can also help your organization find practical solutions to other organizational challenges you may experience. Our Team
Dina Bell-Laroche, BJ, MA
Dina has worked in sport for almost two decades as an executive director, communications specialist and sport consultant with the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, the True Sport Foundation and a number of national sport organizations. Dina recently completed a Masters degree in Sport Management at Brock University where she researched how organizational practices grounded in shared values can create the culture required to help sport organizations better achieve their vision. Dina lives in Kanata with her husband and three children, and is active as a volunteer with Imagine Canada, Ottawa Parks and Recreation Department, Canadian Cancer Society, Kanata Soccer Club and the Bridlewood Community Association. Rachel Corbett, BA, MEDes, RPP
Rachel Corbett helps sport organizations manage change by providing consulting services in research, strategy, policy development and risk management. As a change agent, she works with national and provincial sport bodies on strategic planning, organizational restructuring and risk management initiatives. Rachel also helps sport organizations to draft clear and concise policy documents to improve governance and business practices. She has served as an investigator, dispute administrator and adjudicator in sport-related disputes, and has advocated frequently for sport organizations before national tribunals. Rachel publishes widely and has also lectured in several subjects in the Sport Management Department of Brock University. Hilary A. Findlay, PhD, LLB
Hilary Findlay, is a co-founder of the Centre for Sport and Law and an Associate Professor in the Department of Sport Management at Brock University. The focus of her work is on dispute resolution -- both in terms of helping parties resolve disputes that may arise, and avoid them from arising or escalating in the first place. She is also engaged in writing and speaking on dispute resolution systems and decision-making. Hilary also teaches and publishes on the subjects of athlete agreements, contracts in general, human rights issues and the intellectual property assets of sport organizations. As a volunteer, Hilary does judicial work with Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and also serves on various panels with the Canadian Anti-Doping program. Feel free to contact Hilary directly.
Jerrod K. Grossman, BA, JD (Student-at-Law)
Jerrod graduated law school from Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia. Since returning to Canada Jerrod spent time working at a personal injury law firm where he gained experience in litigation, client communication and legal drafting. Jerrod has wide experience in sport, ranging from directing water ski programs at a summer camp to being a basketball coach, hockey referee and certified CASI snowboard instructor. Jerrod is passionate about sports and hopes to combine this with his legal training to pursue a career in sports law. Jerrod joins the Centre for Sport and Law as a student-at-law for 2009-2010, working with Steve Indig at our Toronto location. Please feel free to contact Jerrod directly.
Steven J. Indig, BRec, LLB
Steve is a lawyer based in Toronto and is also a certified sports agent representing professional athletes. Steve has worked with numerous national and provincial sport organizations providing consulting services relating to governance, contracts, policies, disputes, investigations and privacy. In addition, he has acted as an adjudicator on issues relating to eligibility, conduct of athletes, coaches and membership. Steve has significant first-hand knowledge of sport from competitive swimming at the national level, coaching with the Vaughan Aquatic Club and refereeing basketball. Steve is also a member of the Yarmouth, Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame. Please feel free to contact Steve directly. Kevin R. Lawrie, BSM, MA, BEd Kevin is a sport management graduate from Brock University who now works with the Centre for Sport and Law in a research, analysis and writing capacity. He also has a Masters degree in applied health sciences and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto/OISE. Kevin’s Masters research investigated communication in the coach-athlete relationship in team sport settings. Kevin is a manager and coach with a Midget AA team in North York Baseball Association, and a League Convenor with the Toronto Baseball Association. Please feel free to contact Kevin directly.

The Centre for Sport and Law works for sport organizations throughout the Canadian sport system, at the local, provincial/territorial and national level. We also do work for many multi-sport organizations, as well as for municipalities and educational institutions. In 18 years there is not a sport we have not served or a corner of the country we have not touched, and one can find our current clients from the Maritimes to the West Coast to the Arctic.
