Jason Robinson

Jason joined the Sport Law & Strategy Group in 2015, after eighteen years working in professional and amateur sport. His journey has led him to several countries and various levels of administration, and built a passion for the spirit of athletic endeavour. Jason is a tenacious leader who specializes in sponsorship and event risk management, as well as offering strategic services in planning, communications and governance.

Jason graduated from the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Human Kinetics, Sport Management Honours. His early work included golf course management and event operations with both D.C. United of Major League Soccer and the Toronto Argonauts. Jason was the first-ever student from UWindsor to be selected for and complete a student exchange with the sport management program at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. During this time, he completed a marketing internship with the St. Kilda Saints Australian Football Club and participated in an Australian Olympic Academy event.

After university, Jason managed an event crew that hosted mountain biking events across North America, he was a sponsorship manager for the Scott Tournament of Hearts, and he served for three years as the Marketing & Communications Director for Boxing Ontario. In 2006, Jason was hired as the General Manager (then re-hired as Executive Director) for the Toronto Ultimate Club and for the next nine years he transformed the organization into a progressive and respected leader in the Toronto sport landscape. He led the Club through two strategic planning phases, multiple staff restructures, new sponsorships, a comprehensive rebranding, new policies and By-Laws, and a landmark facility partnership. In 2013, Jason served as Tournament Director for the World Under-23 Ultimate Championships in Toronto, leading the event through its lifecycle from bid to legacy.

On the playing field, Jason has won championships in basketball, soccer, cross-country and Australian Rules football. He was a five time Ontario League All-Star and assistant captain for the Canadian Australian Football team which competed in the International Cup Championships in 2002 and 2005. Today, Jason continues to challenge himself by actively engaging in a variety of sports (Ultimate, curling, running, cycling and golf).
